Seekology behind the scenes: Why our Founder supports small brands

Seekology’s Founder, Rebecca Saunders, shares her thoughts about the opportunity to help small brands reach new customers through our store and website.


“I used to be a department store beauty buyer, with a multimillion pound budget and the opportunity to work with some of the world’s biggest beauty brands. Yet every week I would receive pitches from emerging brands – many of whom seemed extremely interesting, but weren’t ready to sell in a department store; plus, they would have got lost amongst the sea of big-name brands.


Having spent several years after this working with entrepreneurs and helping them to grow their businesses, I felt like there was a real gap in the market to help small brands access customers. Many of these companies don’t have the budget, time or knowhow to set up their own pop up shops. Yet they want to reach more customers in real life – especially in beauty, where customers often want to touch, try and feel products before making a purchasing decision.


At the same time I am a firm believer that many customers are keen to support smaller businesses, and when they are shopping on the high street that they are looking for experiences focused on discovery and inspiration.


This is how the idea for Seekology was born – offering the opportunity for customers and brands alike to join a passionate community of people who care about what they’re buying and where they’re buying from.
